What Peachtree City is actually like
Peachtree City was settled starting in 1959 and incorporated in 1962 as a planned community, and it's still defined by that original plan: a multi-use path system that now runs more than 100 miles through the city, connecting neighborhoods directly to schools and shopping. More than 10,000 households in the city own a golf cart for getting around on it — kids as young as 12 can drive one with a guardian present, and local high schools have dedicated golf cart parking lots alongside the car lots. The city itself owns and maintains the path network, but almost every subdivision within Peachtree City's five villages — Aberdeen, Braelinn, Glenloch, Kedron, and others — has its own separate homeowners association governing architecture and landscaping, so buyers should expect HOA dues and covenants to be the norm rather than the exception here.
The city is built around three lakes — Lake Peachtree (created in 1957), Lake Kedron to the north, and the 650-acre Lake McIntosh, opened to the public in 2013 — and has a real employment base of its own: Panasonic Automotive Systems is the largest employer, alongside Hoshizaki America, Gerresheimer, Sany America, and Rinnai. Clayton State University and Point University both maintain campuses in the city as well.
